Detox Diet Revealed

The Detox Diet - What's It All About?

Thinking about trying a detoxification diet? Wondering what it's all about?

Detox weight loss diets have been getting attention in recent years as people are starting to tire of overly processed foods full of additives and chemicals.

While there are a number of ways to 'detox', basically it consists of giving your body a break from processed, unhealthy foods - from cutting out meat to dairy to wheat to sugar to all processed foods.

The idea is that a detox can help 'clean out' your body and get it working in better shape than before. Many people, for example, feel the need to detox after big holidays like Christmas and New Years where they might have gone overboard on sweets and alcohol.

Benefits of the Detoxification Diet Plan:

A good detox diet can help give your body a 'rest' from dealing with unhealthy, processed foods, take off stubborn weight and even help certain health issues like fatigue.

A good detox can help you feel better (although during the first few days you may feel worse as the 'junk' comes out of your body).

It can also help you lose weight and get rid of stubborn fat.

While many diets tout themselves as detoxification diets - they are not all the same. Some are much healthier than others and some work better than others.

One note of caution however: Always listen to your body and only do what you can. Some detox diets may not be too harsh for you and you may need to take it slow.

Here are some of the various detox diet plans you can check out:

Detox Diet Plans

#1 Alkaline Diet

[ Full Review ]

The alkaline diet aims to help you eat more alkaline-forming foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

The idea is that processed foods, meats and dairy are all overly acidic. And an overly acidic body causes health problems and extra weight.

By eating more alkaline foods and bringing your body into a better PH balance, you'll lose weight and feel healthier.

#2 Raw Food Diet

[ Full Review ]

Similar to the alkaline diet, the raw food diet also emphasizes fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

The idea is that when food is heated above 114 degrees, the enzymes in the food are lost. Enzymes are needed to digest food so our bodies have to dip into their own stores to digest cooked food.

This causes stress and eventual disease, extra fat, etc. So the raw food diet consists of eating most of your food raw, which helps digestion and frees up your liver to burn fat instead of trying to deal with processed, dead, denatured foods.

#3 Lemon Detox Diet

[ Full Review ]

This is really a type of Hollywood fad diet that has been popularized by stars like Beyonce Knowles. It consists of you drinking a concoction of lemon juice, water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup all day. It's also called the 'Master Cleanse' diet.

While it does take off weight very fast, the ultra low calorie approach can cause detox symptoms like headaches and chills. Also you'll be fighting hunger and may even binge when you come off the diet.
